The other plus with diesel is you can burn heating oil or JP-4or 5 (that is jet plane fuel) in your diesel.

Gasoline with sta-bil in it is good for 5 to 8 years, a lot depends on exposure to oxygen, and how much condensation accumulates in the gas.
