For me, the fetish is all the gear, supplies, equipment, BOBs, etc. I can't get enough "stuff." It's been hard for me to maintain a budget, because there's always something else I want to prep. From books to guides to resources, to all sorts of other stuff, I want it all.

At the moment ours is finding a good source of water, manual pump or the like.

Bear Grills (man versus wild.) Always says that if you have a good supply of water than finding food is never a problem. :) Mr. R watches his show religiously.

Kain, I'm with you on that, but it funnels down to food. As a kid we we're dirt poor, before my folks got a divorce they tried to stock pile what they could when they could, but there was a lot of times there wasn't much on the dinner plate. So now I have this need to stock up on food most then "everything" else...
