Looking to buy a box of respirator masks and have no idea what actually recommended (by say FEMA, etc). I've heard that the n95 masks are good. I've also heard that surgical type masks are fine too. I'm looking for something that would protect against viruses and bacteria not just dust particles.

I don't know much about them but I did read somewhere that the n95 leaves a little to be desired when it comes to virus and bacteria filtration. n100 has a better track record.
