Whenever we go on a wilderness survival kit we face snakes and other lethal little creatures. During a trip one of my friend was bitten by a snake and luckily we had antidote for it.

It had always been a problem for me to tackle those snakes. I don't know whether it is legal to kill them or how to take them away. Further does any of you have safety tips while encountering snakes.

It's advice able to keep your cell phones handy at such cases, and some popular antidotes for snake bites, a knife , so that you can pierce the affected area and spit the poison out.

We're fortunate to not have poisoness snakes where we live. All we have are the little green grass snakes and garden snakes.

We must be prepared , during a wilderness trip , we might often face a snake, or at times we might get bitten by them. So we must have proper snake antidotes.

We were hiking up to Abrhams falls and we got to Grays Ridge. On top of Grays Ridge my daughters backpack starrted to tear and I had to test my Blood sugar. So hubby said go sit on the craigs and do what you have to away form the rest the trial. It as about 3000 feet. Anyway hubby took some great pictures. then we were finished and he hoped up so we could take his picture. He got to looking and right where we were sitting, as he put his hand in the craig was a nest of copperheads! He counted 9 and we were four miles from the parking lot and another 3 from the rangers station. Had one of us been bitten we would have been fubarred. I would like to know how you managed to get Horse-serum antivenom? It would be nice to have for the next hike. did you need a RX for it or did you get it from the hospital?

Wear boots and long thick pants if your heading into snake country. I live where rattlesnakes are eminent throughout the area in the summertime and early autumn. I suggest boots.

I live in a village on Thailand were there are many dangerous snakes. No one has ever died from a snake bit as snakes are more scared of us then the other way around. If a snake hears humans approach then they will normally get out of the way.

Depending on what state you live in, killing a snake may be a no-no (game animal). Other than that, fire away. Snake meat tastes good.

As an aside, thick boots, tough pants, and being aware of your surroundings would be the best route. I grew up in SC, and almost stepped on 4 snakes during my years of exploring the woods. Copperheads are the worst for this in the woods. Be alert!
