First priority is to protect the kid. In such a place first, find a safe place like a cave or a hole to hide. Then you figure out.

The first thing is to find a safe haven. And the second thing is to educate the child what to do and what not to do. Secure food sources and necessary stuffs and finally wait for the help to come and protect yourself from possible dangers.

I believe the first thing to do is to educate yourself now about the wilderness. Learn what you can and can not eat. Learn how to keep warm. Learn how to protect yourself from wild animals. Then, the second thing to do is take that knowledge and teach your child.
I have tried to teach my children that if you respect the wilderness and learn what you can and can not do---it will be very good to you.
