How to survive in a terrorist attack if there are no weapons and the terrorists are heavily armed going on a rampage in a building. Is there any chance of surviving in such an unexpected attack.

I have no idea. A terrorist atack would just take you by surprise, so everyone would react differently. You could never prepare yourself for such an event.
I would think the best way for you to survive would be to lock your doors and windows, hide and keep very very quiet.

I couldn't even imagine being in a terrorist attack. I would panic for sure. I don't think I could hide and be quiet.
You never know though--when your adrenaline kicks in, you never know how you are going to react.

The main problem with dealing with a terrorist attack centers on the notion that terrorist attacks come completely by surprise.

But the only chance on surviving in that kind of situation is only based on luck. Why? Terrorists attacks are organized. Its not like they really plan to make you all escape right? So, in my opinion, yes it is possible but can only be because of luck.

Yes. You can survive a terrorist attack. Don't give up. Keep your brain engaged and do your best to maximize your odds. You have to have a survivor's mentality.
1. Can you escape? (During the attack, run out a back door, bust a window and jump out, etc.) 2. Can you evade capture? Barricade yourself in a room. Lock the door, move a desk to block the door, improvise a charley bar. 3. Hide. Turn off the lights. Crawl inside a cabinet, locker, closet, or climb up into the drop ceiling (ceiling tiles) or duct work. 4. Can you summon help? Call or text authorities with a cell phone. Signal out a window. 5. If you are captured, can you become the "gray man" who avoids notice in the crowd and who is not singled out to be executed. If you are one-on-one with terrorists or are singled out for special attention, can you bond with your captors on some human level so that you might be spared? Or if one terrorist is guarding you and others, can you overpower and disarm him? 6. Can you fight back? Do you have a conceal weapon, mace, knife, or martial arts training?
In any terrorist attack, you have a chance to survive with a combination of luck, skill, and mental alertness. Of course, there is luck. But, if a small group of terrorists is attacking, they have many people to keep track of and have to be looking out for police response. In the initial moments of an attack, you have to react and take advantage of any opportunity. If captured or hiding in a building, you have to watch for your window of opportunity and escape.

First thing as always is to ensure you have a " 24 hour emergency preparedness kit. I have a rendezvous location point where members of my family will meet (if they can). If an attack were to happen, we would bug out immediately and go from there. Fortunately I live close to the wilderness and could get to the location in a few hours. The next step is to stock pile some supplies at this location.

These days, most terrorist events take the form of bombings and if you survive the initial blast, you need to worry about evacuating the area and avoiding the secondary and tertiary attacks intended to finish off survivors and first responders.
In a take over situation you can fall back on the SERE principles: Survive Evade Resist Extract
If you are at ground zero and you have no effective means of resistance like firearms, a working firehose, or some similar mechanism to control your immediate area, your best chance of survival is in the words of Monty Python, "value of not being seen". This means evasion. Move, hide, jump out of a window. Whatever you can do to make yourself inconspicuous or remove yourself from the situation. During the initial assualt, the people who reacted quickly to run away have often been able to unass an area before the attackers gain control.
Resistance after being captured would take the form proposed by GatorDude.
Once you have been captured, keep watching for ways to extract yourself or for hints of an impending rescue.

Imaginos is correct about not being seen (evade). I recommend this whether you have a gun or other weapon or not. You need to get far enough away from ground zero to assess your situation, and plan what you need to do to survive and get back to your family.

Having been the terrorist, I can tell you that shock and surprise are the weapons they use. You want to blend into your surroundings, or else you may be made an example of. And being used as an example can be a pretty horrific way to die. Once they have the groups attention, they can control it. We don't live in a war zone so quite frankly we're pretty soft as a society, and a horrific death right in front of your eyes with the possibility of you being next will, at least until the shock wears off, make you compliant. Always be aware of your surroundings always look for a way out (escape route) always look for things that can be used as weapons ( even a sharpened pencil can kill a person if you come up under the ribs or punch it into the eye socket) it is better to go down fighting than to be butcherd like a pig! Choose your battles!
