Once, i was fishing on a lake wich was covered with ice. I falled to the lake, and i was near to drown. A fisherman helped me, and I survived fortunately. For all fisher, don't go to thin ice, it the most dangerous thing!

This happens more often than not. If you are ice fishing make sure to check the ice to see how frozen it actually is. We live near a lake and every year there are situations like you descrived.

This has happened to me as well once. My friend helped me get out. It was really scary.

I slipped on the icy banks of the Yellowstone once while fishing from the shore, and broke through the ice in the middle of a backwash (luckily it wasn't the main river body). After a two mile hike back to my car, I think that was the coldest I've ever been! Brrrr! To make matters worse, my wife just took a shower when I got home (she was preparing to go out with her friends that evening), and there was no hot water!

That must be a life threatening situation. You must have greeted the fisher men who had saved your life. Sometimes God send angels in the form of people to help us during the tough situations.

Oh my God you are really lucky, I have seen these types of scene in films only. I would be more careful now. I would always do a home work before going to any unknown place.

Yeah it happened to me as well. When ever you go for ice fishing, have a company and have a rope too.

You should always be prepared for the worst things when you are in ice, the chances of breaking the top surface is very big and the risk of your life is too high, keep yourself company and have the most essential tools in case of emergency.

Unless it is an extreme emergency, never go out on the ice alone. I live near Lake Erie, which is a popular ice fishing lake. I always recommend to people that they wear some type of flotation device just in case. It may make a difference. You won't go deep enough in the water to get trapped under the ice, and as quickly as icy water takes your strength, you may be able to stay alive until someone can get to you.
