For a family of five to survive once everything is gone requires only six simple items: a shelter, some blankets, a stove, a kitchen set, a water carrier, a hygiene kit (including a water purification device).

Nice picture. And you may also need some amount of medicines and light stuffs to survive on a longer basis. There are lot of essential stuffs to consider while surviving alone and not just food, shelter would help us to survive for long.
