We here at EmergencyPreparationForum.com were rather surprised when we checked our daily traffic stats for the site and saw that over 40,000 people visited this site this past Sunday. After a bit of research, we learned that an individual had posted a link to one of our topics on
http://www.reddit.com (
http://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/8sg4h/dont_stand_too_close_to_the_water_warning_graphic/) which sent a tremendous amount of traffic to this site (over 37,000 visits). Since then, this site has been tagged on other bookmarking and social networking sites resulting in a continued amount of heavy traffic.
The website's traffic hit a high on Sunday with over 40,000 visits, but still tallied over 17,000 visitors on Monday and we're on pace to equal or top that figure today.
This increased traffic is of course great exposure for this site, however, it has resulted in some temporary downtime due to the traffic exceeding the bandwith capacity at a given moment. Usually these errors only last a few moments and are cleared up by simply refreshing the page in your browser. While this inconvenience is small, we wanted to let you know that we are working on increasing the capacity with our hosting service (GoDaddy) to ensure smotth and uninterrupted use of this forum. We thank you for your patience as we deal with this unexpected influx of traffic to this site.
