What's the one (or two) items that you carry in your BOB or Bug In Kit that may surprise others? Items that you consider important that aren't normally on preparation lists?
I thought of this question when packing for my last camping trip with friends. I always put in a pair of scissors, which surprised my buddies, who said they've just always used their hunting knives. But sure enough, they asked to use them three or four times during the week and commented about how they were adding GOOD scissors to their BOB's, not just the little first aid kit ones.
My items would be comfort things, like a pack of M&M's or a deck of cards.
Also, extra "feminine needs" stuff, which is often left off prep lists. Even if I won't need it for the few days I may have to use the short term kit, it could really save some other chick's day...

I also carry tampons in my BOB. They are great for puncture wounds that are bleeding badly.
BTW: I am not a female.

M&Ms would not last in my BOB. They call to me Some feminine products are also good to start fires with. (They don’t call to me)
