Uses for Zip-Lock bags:
Water carrier Water proofer - maps, etc. Hat for rain - 1 gal size. For some of you 5 gal size. wound cover - Tape in place first aid kit carrier expedient shoes - tape in place insulation - partially inflate with air float - life preserver sort of freezer bag cooking solar distillery container vapor barrier in boots pillow (with duct tape seal)
It is recommended that you use the freezer type zip-lock bags. They are stronger than the normal zip-lock bags.

I had been using ziplock type of bags for most of my survival tours. They are nice and comfortable when compared with other type of bags and well suited for long distance trekking.

I have 16 large warehouse size boxes of ziploc freezer bags in my storage. I love them and use them for many many things. all of my clothes in my 72 hour kit are stored in ziploc bags. I figure, when I take out the clothes, I'll find SOME use for the bags.
I've used them to make ice packs, keep things dry, keep things together, I even once put a severed finger (not mine thankfully) in one.

Ziploc bags are great and we always have some in our car and in our backpacks. There are just so many ways for which you can use these handy bags.

Don't forget small game bags to hold the freshly skinned meat. If it's snowing, or cold, you can always put the meat that you don't use in your ziplock, and then submerge in snow or ice. In a pinch, a cold mountain river should keep the food at 40 degrees or so (with string and a rock to hold it at the bottom).
