Will Ferrell says it was a thrill to join adventurer Bear Grylls for an icy episode of Discovery Channel's "Man vs. Wild."

The channel said Wednesday that Ferrell and series host Grylls spent two days in Sweden's mountains and glaciers for a "Man vs. Wild" special.

With Grylls as his guide, Ferrell rappelled down frozen waterfalls, scavenged for food in the forest - including reindeer eyeballs - and improvised snow shoes from saplings.

Ferrell said being part of "Man vs. Wild" was the "thrill of a lifetime."

In turn, Grylls said he did an amazing job in unforgiving conditions. The episode is set to air on June 2nd, coinciding with the release of Ferrell's new comedy-adventure film "Land of the Lost.

I'm not much of a Will Farrell fan, but I'll watch this episode just to see how it all works out between the two of them.

From what I understand, The "Man vs. Wild" crew usually stays in hotels overnight and many of Bear's "challenges" are created for a specific purpose. It's not like the guyis out in the dessert with just his cameras, trying to survive.

I bet Ferrell will ham it up, though!

I have it on right now. Will Ferell is actually doing pretty good.

I found the show to be rather enjoyable to watch. At least for one episode. I'm not sure I could handle watching the two of them together for a whole season of episodes. I liked it, even for its uniqueness alone.

Based on the training I have received, most of the techniques portrayed in Man vs. Wild are too risky for the average person.
Les Stroud of Survivorman took a much more conservative and IMHO realistic approach to his survival technique.

Some of the material in Man vs. Wild is viable survival skills, but these gems are not given the emphasis they deserve because the show is too focussed on SAS "stunts".

YMMV

I think you speak for the majority of the forum when you said the above. Bear likes to go for the most glorious or exciting techniques when he can opt for simpler or safer alternatives...But hey I'm sure its for the ratings...Just unfortunate that some people watch the show and think he that's what I need to do if I am ever in that situation...
