Thanks for the step by step instructions dclaarjr...I might just pick up some supplies and put together a kit for my wife as a Christmas gift.

it's an easy job to do, just bring some beeswax sheets, melt scraps cutten from that sheet
in your melt pot, bring some wicks, cut them into pieces of the length you require, bring a mould of the
shape you like, put wax paper into it and pour the molten wax, don't forget to embed the wicks before the
candle is completely solid.

candles of different colors can be molded too i suppose, just using different beeswax sheets colors and separate between different colors with wax papers, and separate the different sections of the candle with wax paper when molding it.

I have been longing to learn how to make candles... be it for personal use, gifts to friends and family members, or for business-purpose... but time does not allow me... :(

Can you make homemade candles with other materials such as animal fat? Just trying to be creative and find a use for some other miscellaneous items around the kitchen.

I am not sure what animal fats would work. I know before petroleum products became popular and produced kerosene and other lamp oils, a popular lamp oil was made from whale blubber which is fat.

The way fat secretes grease and causes flare up on a cooking fire or grill, I believe it would be a good experiment to try making candles and lamp oils frpm different animal fats.

If anyone knows or is willing to experiment, please let us know.
