I'm looking to purchase a good quality fixed blade knife. I've narrowed my options down to three choices:

1. S.O.G. Seal Pup Elite
2. KaBar 7"
3. Gerber LMF

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of these knives that that are willing to share? Any pros/cons of one of these knives over the others? Do any of them hold an edge better? Any of them more durable than the others?

Thanks in advance for any input.,

Chaz

Personally, I like the look of the SOG knife...I've heard that they were built for (or designed by) Navy Seals and that there is a coating on the knife blade that prevents it from rusting (since the Navy Seals are near water/the ocean quite a bit). Is there any truth to that?

I've heard amazing stories about the durability of the Kabar knives. If it's good enough for the Marines...

Just to follow up, I decided on getting the S.O.G seal pup elite. It arrived in the mail today. I'll write up a review once I've tested the knife out, but upon first inspection, this seems to be a fantastic knife, especially for the price.

Check out galls.com , I think that is the apt place where you can choose a knife of your choice. There you can find quality fixed blade knives, the latest in combat knives, fixed blade knives, tactical knives, boot knives and military knives.

I would also look at the Ka Bar D2. A very good knife at an excellent price. If you don't mind paying more( about $200.00) the SOG Recon Bowie is one I recommend highly.

Fixed blade knives like the Coast Bowie Knife or the Puma Rolled Stag White Hunter are both good examples of high quality fixed blade hunting knives because of their superior stainless steel blades and sturdy handles. So why don't you go for them?
