We've all looked at lists of things to have if you need to bug out, but what about the items you'd need if you were staying put or bugging in? Obviously this list will have some very different items on it than the typical bug out list.
So I thought I'd start a list of these items that be helpful to have in the event you had to bug in. Feel free to add any items to the list.
Generators Plastic Tarps or Rolled Plastic Sheeting Duct Tape Water Purification Methods Firewood Alternative Lighting Sources (oil lamps, etc) Non-Perishible Food Items Baby And Feminie Supplies Garbage Bags Toilet Paper, Paper Towles, Rags

Beans, bullets and bandaids should be your first concern, then when you have that covered you can worry about other stuff. Beans-enough food on hand to feed your family for at least 3 months and THE MEANS to prepare it, whether wood cookstove, propane, etc./ Bullets- you must have the means to keep what is yours and to protect your family. Bandaids-enough first aid supplies to handle most situations, remember there are going to be a lot of newbies running around with axes, chainsaws, fires, etc. (most are an accident waiting to happen). this is just a short list, if wanted i would be glad to go into detail. IMHO

I think a way to store a surplus of water is important. Whether its in plastic totes or the bathtub, etc. After an disaster, often times the water is either shut off or becomes contaminated.

Battries are also good for a small stockpile.
As for storeing water. What about a large rain catch? Or if your bugging in you could somehow rig tarp to catch any rain from your roof, and funnle rainwater down into a large container. Hmm

Be sure to have some iodized salt around. Iodine is an essential trace mineral that keeps your thyroid gland working properly as well as metabolizing your food into energy.

Remember, Iodine can actuley cause you harm if you take it for more than a few weeks, and may cause thyroid problems.
Theres info about it on the water purification page on my website.

Very true. That's why I mention iodized salt. Unless you are a salt freak, and use it in massive quantities, you won't take enough in to do any damage.
