While you can't really avoid them, and most of them aren't life threatening, insects could make a survival experience much worse than it might already be.
What native plants or substances can be used as insect repellent when you are stuck in a forest?
Are any of the insects edible?

Are you chinese? Insects are not edible. i never eat them. But if you caught in a situation where you wont get food easily, then you have to stock up food when ever you get.

I am not sure how to repel insects which are poisonous. In most cases there are different types of insect repellents available in the market and there are certain amount of fragrance material available in nature which can be used as a repellent to insects and bugs.

Spiders are very dangerous insects. And some of the ants too. There are so many poisonous insects and we should be very careful while we are in a forest or a lake.

Many poisonous insects can be safely eaten if you remove the poison glands and stingers.

I've heard that military survival training includes eating insects to survive, so I have to assume that your response is meant as a joke.
