this is also vaguely related to the hole up or bugout thread. How many of you live in / near the city and how many have a country place? Do you think its better to stay near cities or towns if something happens or do you feel safer out in the country?

I'm married (no children yet) and live in the subburbs of Boston (think halfway between Boston and Plymouth). So my biggest concern is a terrorist attack on the city of Boston, or an attack on the Pilgrim Nucular Power Plant in Plymouth. Depending on the attack and the weather/winds at the time, I'm kind of a sitting duck as far as location wise. A large scale attack on Washington DC or New York might also present some unfortunate afteraffects in my neck of the woods.

With that being said, I feel safer where I am than if I lived directly in the city. Partly because if I lived in the city I would use the subway a great deal of the time and I think that is a prime target for terrorists. I also have some family right around the corner from where I live now and that provides some comfort. Safety in numbers. :)

I'd like to have a place somewhat off the grid, in the middle of nowhere that I could bug out to if the need arises, but don't have the funds to make such a purchase just yet. That's the ultimate goal.

We are Rural Farmers. We have to go 7 miles for a bottle of soda or gas.

I am in a small town. I would rather be out in the country with no neighbors. I would NEVER feel comfortable in the city during a time of crisis.

I like in a sub urban area. I enjoy both the advantages of a city and a country. Further sub urban area are less vulnerable to crime and stress.
