We're out in the country and LOVE it! If something were to happen, I think I would feel safer out here as everyone knows each other and many already have farms and large gardens so finding food would not be an emergency. Lots of hunters here too and lots of property to hunt on.

I am single , and I live in a fairly populated area , not very crowded . Getting my grocery is not a great difficulty , as i just have to walk a few meters to reach the supermarket.

I grew up on a farm, but have been living in the city for the last 12 years, after spending almost 20 years in the suburbs.

I still have some property near the old farm, but I haven't put together a plan that would involve going there in the case of an emergency.

My husband & I are country people, although we both grew up in big cities (him in Milwaukee and me in Phoenix). We love the country and would prefer to be even more isolated -- maybe a half-mile driveway going back from the road. While I can't see roving gangs of thugs in the cornfields, I can't forget what I've read about WWII and the devastation it brought down on Europe. A terrible amount of suffering and death came out of some of those rural areas ("Oh, is this your wheat field? And that's your barn? All that livestock, too, hmmm? Oh, dear. Terribly sorry for the inconvenience, but there's a war on, you know. Everyone's been talking about it, you must have heard something. Yes? Well, good, then I know you'll understand why we have to use your land for our upcoming battle. Well, see, because it's your land that's here and our army is here and the enemy is, well ... they're here, too. Yes, bad planning, I do agree. Still, things happen, and it is war. Yes, good idea, you and your family put those suitcases in the wagon and head up that road ... wait, maybe not that road, I believe our tanks will begin shelling just up that way, and ... see, they've already started. No, I don't believe you can get out in time. Your basement might be safe for a while. Of course I'll do what I can to protect your house. I'm not about to call incoming fire down on myself, now, am I? Say, you wouldn't have a map of this area I could take a look at, would you?")

I'm a rural person by nature. Could even be a miser in a cave if I had enough gold. But, due to circumstances I'm in downtown Reno, third floor apartment.

I grew up in Chicago..spent a few years and many summers on a farm which is now my parents "summer place"...our bug out destination...

I currently live in a city of about 35k....1.5hrs from Milwaukee 2.5hrs from Chicago....no "major metropolitan" cities close...buggin out should be a cakewalk although we aren't going to underestimate it.

I am in the medical profession now..but also have a degree in horticulture...finally I think THAT is going to come in handy!!

So I guess I have an urban mind and a rural heart!!

We live right in the middle of the city... but given the chance, I would prefer the suburb.

I live near the border of a small city and a fairly agricultural town but plan on bugging out to a less populated area if the need arises. I already have about a year's worth of food stored there. Ultimately I hope to move to the jungles of eastern Ecuador, completely off all grids.

Now THAT is off the grid...a little too humid for my taste though...Love your ambition!
