I don't use any of them but I know a couple people that decided they didn't want the world knowing their every move. When they tried to delete the account facebook gave them a big run around trying to figure out why. AOL did the same thing with my brother when he canceled their service. I suspect that they get better advertising rates with more subscribers, although this is pure speculation on my part.
