What can be done when one is the victim of the very dangerous scenario of a home invasion? Can anything be done to survive in such a situation?

Stay calm first off. I keep my doors and windows locked at all times just to be on the safe side.

Ya i would agree with brandbla, always try to be on the safer side. It's not that you shouldn't help anyone. Its better if you shut your doors and windows and make sure that your pets are safe.

We have that happen here in St. Pete a lot. We have two big dogs that bark very loud and my hubby has two guns. I also try to keep my doors locked. Other than that there is nothing you can do really. Just be aware of whats going on outside your house and don`t open the door to anyone you don`t know.

The first thing to do is to tackle the fear and instill confidence. Hide in a safe place, make your mind to be free of fear and think about figuring the ways on how to save your life.

This is a really scary topic.
We keep our windows and doors locked at night and we have a dog that barks at almost every sound. She will at least warn us if something is around that should not be and possibly that would be enough to deter some people. We usually keep a downstairs light on all night as well. Makes it look like someone is up and about.

This reminds me of the movie Panic Room. I know someone with a secret compartment in their ensuite bathroom off their bedroom that leads to what once was a rifle range downstairs. I guess that could be used as a panic room.

Does anybody here have anything like that?

our neighbor was very lucky. Last week while he was at home he was broken into.
They pulled up in a white SUV, parked in his yard cut the screen on his door and broke in. He was sitting in another room watching TV. he thought he heard something and came face to face with the thief. All they took was his wallet. So we are keeping a watch out for him.

We have 8 furry razor blades and with one of us at home at all times and loaded firearms it makes it for a pretty safe existence.

I think the biggest is getting prepared that It can happen and then head to a rifle range and learn how to use any type of self protection.

Better have a firearm in the closet or under the bed. Hide around the corner when your intruder or intruders decides to beat you or your loved ones, apply martial arts forms and get them away from your family and yourself, then shoot them. Don't wait, they want to hurt you, be realistic.

If you don't have a firearm, then hiding you and your loved ones in an unusual place in the house, quickly.

If you cannot escape the open area before they arrive then you are in for some trouble.

When you meet your opponent go into battle fearless, and stay calm, apply martial arts.

Or smash the lamp or television over their head.
