Hello everyone, My name is Simon, 26, and I currently live in Denver. I am very interested in Emergency Preparedness and am working (with some friends) on putting together a 5 day workshop about the basics of Emergency Preparedness. I am planning to cover as many areas as possible from basic survival kits to being prepared for a nuclear attack. Also I am interested in what is stopping so many people from actually being prepared for an emergency. It seems like all the information is out there and all there is to do is some research and then go into action, yet almost no one I know really is prepared...
Anyway, I am looking forward to exchanging information with all of you!
Simon

Welcome Simon!
Please keep us posted on how your workshop turns out. You could also use this to screen members to form a survival group if you are inclined to do so.

Hi Simon! Welcome to the forum. As you work towards your class, please share what topics you'll be covering. I'd love to hear the details.

Thank you for the welcome. Here is a rough overview of what we (my friends and I) were thinking to do in regards to the workshop. The first day we would focus on giving an understanding that emergencies are a reality and that it could hit at any time. I am thinking of making a very up-shaking experience. The second day we would focus more on what people have to get through to actually be fully on board to get prepared, like fear, denial, thinking they can handle any situation, etc. The we would focus for 2 days on important aspects of the preparation, like air, food shelter, medical supplies, shelter, transportation, communication, finances, etc. Each topic would be covered for several hours with specific examples. Then we have a day with a hands on section, putting together plans specific to the participants homes, maybe putting together a EP bag.
Anyway that's the rough plan, as I get closer I can share more details and specific information. If you have any suggestions, recommendations or input please let me know.
Thanks!
