Hi all,

I'm from England, and new to the forum.

I have some pretty specific preparedness questions that I hope I can get your advice on. I hope there's someone out there who can help.

All best,
Deep Green

First of all, WELCOME to the forums!

Ask any questions you have. We have some people here who are very knowledgeable, and are glad to help.

Thanks for the welcome.

I've been reading up about potential blackouts if the UK grid can't support the energy demand in the future - supposedly 2015-2016. Is there anyway to prepare for these eventualities, if there are rolling blackouts can we train ourselves to cope better? If anyone can offer any advice how best to prepare I would be interested.

Or, is there anyway to predict when these might occur? There were blackouts in New York in the 1970s and more recently in California... is there anyway to put a sensor on the mains line to sense when a blackout is about to happen?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Welcome DG! Always nice to see new members join. Not too much I can offer on your power grid question, but you might want to post it in the "urban survival" section as it might get more exposure there (rather than in the "new members introductions" section).
