I'm new to the world of preparation, but I've decided I'm in it to win it.

The first thing I did was create an immediate emergency "layer" that's with me all the time- most of it I already had. Things like a small flashlight, charged cell phone, gas tank never goes below 3/4, cash in small bills, etc.

I'm now almost done with a three day BOB in case I have to leave the house before/after a flood or tornado (two main concerns in my area). I've also started collecting items for longer term, although most of that will have to wait just a few more weeks until a few larger bills are paid off.

I'm studying up for long term prep in case of teotwawki, which is my ultimate goal. My only two worries are that 1) as a single female I'm at a bit of a security disadvantage  and 2) I really want to own my own place rather than renting. Buying property has been my #1 goal for a while now, and I'm looking forward to having that done soon! As far as issue #1, I'll be getting a permit and training before summer.

Welcome

Unless you have unlimited resources, slow and steady is the road ahead. We've been at it for about 4 years and have come a long way. Still have a long way to go.
