There's something special that happens when I just have GOT to make do, find a way, find a solution, and it just HAS to work out.

After the first flush of doubt, my mind starts to tick away, inventory, possible outcomes, tools at my disposal, skills that may be of use . . . and with that, a sense of constructive calm.

Have any of you experienced this?

I guess what I'm asking, is have you experienced this weird focusing constructive calm that includes your mind racing.

I've experienced it several times. Most often when I'm faced with a sudden big problem or circumstance.

1) Intitially a flush of panic and defeat--that doesn't last long, just a few seconds.
2) My brain seems to "fire up" and I become almost hyper aware of my surroundings while a sort of back channel is taking inventory of what I know and have that might help. I'm sort of operating on two or three channels at once.
3) My focus narrows and I get very calm, constructive, and determined.

It may be adrenaline, but I've experienced JUST adrenaline when having to react fast and that usually leaves me very shakey afterwards. This doesn't do that--I feel energized and focused--not shakey.

It is you training and confidence kicking in. The more you train the better you get, the better you get the more confident you get. As your confidence grows, the moments of doubt go away quicker. In some areas doubt doesn't rear its ugly head any more. In other areas it comes up quick and tries to stay. This is how i know what I have to practice, or upgrade next.

I think I understand what you are saying. When a sudden problem pops up that needs to be fixed soon, you kind of go into a mode of fast forward thinking and try to come up with a solution. I have tocalm down first then talk to my hubby or my mom and try to figure out together what needs to be done.

Yes, I think my first emotion is panic when a problem arises. Then, I calm down and think through the situation and yes, then something kicks in and I do what I have to do to fix the problem.

Many times I look back afterward and wonder why I even panicked to begin with--but it never changes--I still always panic..lol
