Has anyone ever cooked with the Nuwick emergency candle and stove? I was looking at this for another emergency cooking method.....saw the candle and stove on two different websites. Both sites claim it can boil water in about 15 minutes (how much, it doesn't say) and fry an egg in 5 minutes. Any comments/suggestions?

I haven't used this, but I do try to avoid this type of system for cooking.

For a Bug In situation, I have my grill that also Stove type burners besides the grill surface. I keep enough fuel for this to last about a month. i also have a Coleman stove that uses the same fuel. I have an adapter to hook it to the same tanks.

I also have some light weight camp grates that I can cook on over a camp fire, or by putting coals from a fire under it. I have a small fire pit and wood in my back yard that I can use to feed it and we do cook out there in the evenings at times.

At different Surplus and outdoors type stores I have seen these little stoves that are fueled with twigs and small sticks. These work on the same principle as the stove you were talking about and you don't have to worry about packing your fuel with you if you are on the move. These fold up and take up very little room in a pack. I have thought about buying one of these to put in my day pack so I can cook food when I am hunting and fishing.

Thanks, dclaarjr. I'm trying to obtain two different ways of cooking. Some of the systems I have seen can get expensive, but I am intrigued by the one you mentioned that uses twigs....I'll definitely be looking into that one.
