Happy Birthday to everyone. EmergencyPreparationForum.com has turned one year old!

While this forum was initially created in October 2008 by a handful of friends, we didn't really begin to promote the site until the November. So we have decided that November should serve as the website's official birthday/anniversary month. In this day and age with websites coming and going, we're very excited to see things develop here as they have in the past year. We've got some great ideas in the works for the website and can't wait to see how we grow in our second year.

In the meantime, we have decided to celebrate our first anniversary with a weekly prize. Each and every week until our next birthday in November of 2010, one forum member will receive a very cool 20 oz. stainless steel (that means BPA free) water bottle complete with the forum's logo (hey a little free advertising never hurt, right?). And because we're such cool people here, we're even going to cover the cost of shipping for you!

There is no gimmick. This isn't some ploy. This is simply our way of saying thank you to our loyal members. If it weren't for you, this site would not have blossomed like it has over the past year.

We're truly blessed to have been able to turn a hobby and passion among a few friends into a rather active online community. We just think that's damn cool.

So how is this going to work? Each week we will create a thread on Sunday for the upcoming week. All you have to do is make a simple post in that thread. Something like "here's my entry" or "I want one of those bottles" or "OOH OOH PICK ME!!!" will work just fine. We'll then throw the entries into a hat and pick one at random. We'll notify the winner on Sunday in that week's thread. You'll then of course have to provide your mailing address so that we can get your bottle out to you.

Of course, if you'd like to get your hands on one of these bottles quicker, you can make a donation to us through PayPal using the link at the bottom of each page. Every person that donates $15 will get a water bottle mailed to them free of charge (shipping included).

Below is a proof picture of the water bottles. Trust me this proof doesn't do justice. The real bottles are stunning and the forum's logo looks great (you can't really tell in the proof picture). I'll post a true picture of the bottles soon.

We'll start the first weekly prize thread this coming Sunday (November 8th). Keep your eyes out for the thread!

Hey what a novel idea - a website that gives back. I'm cheap so I love freebies :)

I have been thinking about this 1 year birthday.

This site has really grown since I joined, and I hope we can keep it going.

Congratulations to admin for a job well done.

Just to update everyone, the following members have won free water bottles so far:

McCLarinJ
MattyBrinks
Bill E. Bob

We are awaiting the shipment of the water bottles with the correct logo. There was a bit of an extra delay as the printing company was out of stock of the water bottles that were used the first time so we changed to style of the bottles to a larger capacity (34 oz.) bottle that looks more like a nalgene bottle. The bottle is still stainless steel though. We should receive them this coming week and will mail out the bottles to all winners next Saturday.
