I imagine that generators in various sizes would be helpful for survival, from the crank kind that powers lights or radios, to the gas powered kind that provides some AC current for other appliances.

I have at least a crank light/radio/phone charger.

I'd be curious to hear about what kinds of generators others here have stashed away.

We have thought about picking us up one and have yet to do it. We have one for our home in case power goes out.

We had 2 generators. Both ran on gasoline. You ahve to consider ho much wattage to run what you need to run. In an emergency situation you will need it to keep your fridge running minimum. So you will need a fairly large size.
You also have to consider, gasoline, kerosene or diesel for the fuel to generate. A little hand crank just ain't going to get it s done.

Look into the Honda engine ones for around 300 dollars will power a fridge and few lamps and a little water heater on a single tank of fuel.

They do make noise and they do need ventilation. The soalr supported do not put out enough wattage for a fridge, just enough for a few lights.

We have a generator. It is wonderful. We were out of power for about 36 hours about 2 months ago. It's a bigger one that runs on gasoline. That is something else we always have here at the house. We were able to plug the fridge and freezer (basement) into the generator and also a couple of lights. We didn't lose any food at all. I was impressed.

Generators are a must because, during an emergency situation or due to drastic weather conditions , there may not be power supply , so generators are a must.

Generators are wonderful! This Christmas all of the adult males are getting them as a gift from my mother. She happened to run across them being discounted and only paid $20 for each of them. Huge savings for her and a wonderful resource for them.
