This is the flip side to a question I previously asked. If if there was one item that people routinely forget to take with them on an excursion, what would it be?

Matches. That is one thing I always seem to forget. Once we start to build for a fire, we realize no one brought matches. Thank goodness usually someone has a lighter.

Yes, it will be matches and sometimes any communication system such as GPS. People mostly forget communication gadgets and matches when it comes to wilderness.

Flashlight. all of us carry a zippo but we almost always forget a flashlight which by the way, a polished zippo is a great survival tool. Not only do you have soak proof ignition, but the shiny sides make for a signaling mirror.

Flashlights and pocket knives , and in some cases match sticks . Radio is also something which is very useful, it serves you as a multi purpose tool, keeps you entertained as well as it helps in gaining transmission signals from long ranges when you are lost.

Water purifying tablets, towels , toilet tissues and matches are the most essential things one may forget during a wilderness trip.

Worst fear- ammo. I bring my pistol, but without ammo, what good is it?

Believe it or not though, water is on the top 10 list at least. Easily remedied by nearby water, but still- it's kind of necessary to bring along just in case!

No toilet paper is a fate worse than death for me, so I always have plenty of that!

Pack 100 rounds in your survival bag. You will never forget it. You have reminded me of this. I have never packed any toilet paper in my BOB. That could be nearly fatal.

Murphy's law: You will have .22 ammo packed, and have a .45 pistol, or .223 rifle!

Toilet paper can always be improvised. Leaves, grass, you name it. Once, I forgot toilet paper, and used the insulation material on an old coat! For what it's worth, my wife said that it was pretty soft...
