What are your recommendations for a good folder? Looking for something that is good quality and durable, but not too pricey. Any suggestions?

My number one folder is the Spyderco Delica. Pretty inexpensive, very durable, easy one-handed opening, and great blade sharpness and retention. Check it out, you won't be disapointed.

Thanks for the response. That looks like a nice knife, but maybe a bit more expensive than what I wanted to spend. I was looking at the Gerber knives as well. Does anyone have an opinion on their products?

I prefer a Swiss classic. But I also have an old henry and a buck trapper. Passed down from my Dad and the Swiss is took from my husband. He bought me the Swiss card. Frost Cutlery makes a good knife at a very reasonable price in a variety of styles. When we need new pocket knives this is where we go, we live only a few miles from the store. http://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eComm ... _front.jspyou can get catalogs shipped to you or browse just about everything online. julie

The swiss army knives are nice because of the number of tools on them. But I do not like them at all for a folding knife. Safety is very important to me and I won't use a folding knife unless is has a locking mechanism so the blade can't close while I'm using it. So for that reason alone, I'm not a big fan of the swiss army knives. Even the Leatherman's and Gerber multi-tools have locking mechanisms. I can't figure out why the SAK haven't been upgraded to that feature.
For folders, you can't go wrong with spyderco or a benchmade (though they're a bit pricey).

Hands down the best survival knife in an outdoors or wilderness survival scenario. These knives are are designed to take abuse. Fixed blade knives are invaluable tools in the outdoors for tasks related to fire building, shelter building, hunting, and prying.

I would have to say Gerber. Old Timers are good knives but the size you would need surpasses the 35.00 mark.

I like Smith and Wesson, and in the military I had a Kbar. I would buy and carry either one of those.

Dont waste your time with anything that uses plastic or a synthetic but they break. Wood handles are the most durable and most reliable. a good folding knife? To answer that question, I got a winchester for christmass when i was seven. keep it sharp keep it clean, im 21 now and its never broken.
