If the SHTF,(whatever S hits whatever F) you or yours may suffer a traumatic wound during this crisis. There will be no 911 and you WILL be on your own.

Bleeding out is the most common cause of death from a traumatic injury such as severed artery, severe puncture wound, amputation, gunshot, etc.Even in NORMAL times you WILL LIKELY bleedout from a sufficiently traumatic injury BEFORE emergency help arrives.

The following is a list of items and demos of these items field proven to save your life or the life of a loved one.
Most of these items can be found in the USMC I.F.A.K. (individual first aid kit) which can be procured from ebay, or other online sources. These items can also be purchased separately from the same sources.
In my opinion, NO PROPER B.O.B. SHOULD BE WITHOUT ONE OF THESE ITEMS FOR EVERY MEMBER OF YOUR PARTY.

GRAPHIC WARNING: THE DEMOS ARE FROM D.O.D. EFFECTIVENESS TESTS AND WILL CONTAIN ACTUAL USE OF THESE ITEMS ON TEST ANIMALS(pigs).
There will be blood, but being aware of the existence of these items and their proper use may save YOUR life.

#1- the 'Emergency' or "Israeli' bandage- a self- contained bandage/secondary dressing/ tourniquet in one.
Much more effective and efficient than traditional methods.

#2- the C.A.T. one-handed tourniquet, much more effective than the triangle bandage twisted tight with a twig method we all learned.

#3- Demonstration of Quikclot hemostatic agents in various forms- granules, gauze, and sponge.
(Note: some concern has arisen about the use of the Quikclot GRANULES in that it produces heat and there is some speculation it may cause exothermic burns around the edges of the wound. There is a similar product 'CELOX" granules that supposedly create no heat. Personally, I would take my chances in potential issues LATER with the use of QUIKCLOT granules rather than bleed to death in 3-4 minutes as occurs with terminal bleedout)

I know it's hard to watch this perhaps, and even harder to wrap your mind around ever needing this info, but if you are SERIOUS about preparation for and survival of disastrous events this information could be invaluable.
