A must for anyone with a long driveway. My mom has a system similar to this, it also detects people walking down her driveway (her driveway is only around 50 yards or so).

I saw a device advertised on TV a couple of years ago that was supposed to alert when anyone was around. I believe it was a laser type system, so that if the beam was disrupted, the alert would go off. I haven't seen it advertised in ages, so I assume it didn't do very well, but that's the kind of system I need -- something very simple that doesn't require more technology and installation.

This type of system typically uses an infrared sensor, which is better than a laser. Leaves blowing will trip a laser, as will a bird. Typically, these systems are calibrated to ignore small things such as leaves or birds.

It is a must have thing for anyone who cares about their safety as well as for their property. Further it doesn't costs much to get them installed. I have been using this monitoring system for about an year now and nothing in my property moves from my eyes.

Is this system scalable?
I ask because we don't worry about our driveway, but I would like to be notified if someone approaches the front of the house through the front gate!
Is it solar powered?

A report on the Wireless Driveway Alert..........I own two recievers and eight initiators, the reciever comes with one initiator and cost $63.00 and separate initiators $39.00 each.
I have them all over my property......because both sets have a one beep to four beeps I placed them in pairs for the sam e are.....one beep for both alerts at the front of the house, four beeps at the back and so on, that way I know the general area of the problem and they work just great........but for the deers, bear, cats, racoons, doggs and so on.........
I made two of the following..... from "Cabellas" I bought two boat search lights that moves in a circle (or right and left) and up or down for $75.00 each.........and here is what I did........I extended all the wires by 100 feet and attached at the top of each search light a tiny tv camera.......also bought a 12 volt battery to operate the search lights.
Now then.......when ever one of my alarms goes off, and without getting out of bed, I can turn on the search light (either one or two) and on my monitors at the foot of my bed I can see right away what was it that set off the alarms..........they work GREATTTTTTTTT and even saw a guy running like hell out of my propery hahahahahahahahah.
Also have five heat seeking double flood lights with three of them having a winner that makes the sound of hell......
"To be ready is not"... Ponce..........but I am sure as hell trying to be ready.

PS: Almost forgot......... the four AA batteries in the transmiters are supposed to last one year but I change them every six months........for the 12 volt I use a 2 amp to keep it charged all the time and check the water once a month.
