 Post subject: Crank radios

I have seen these advertised in some of the local stores and wondered how well they worked? Or how they work in general. You just crank the handle and the radio works? No batteries needed?

They normally have less range and they cannot be reliable at all times. Further their signals are hard to pick especially if the climate is hostile and the distance is large.
