 Closets Organizing Tips
Add another shelf between the present one and the ceiling if you can and store things like seasonal shoes you don't need to get to often. Use the door - add hooks for belts, ties or shoe organizers. Keep shorter items such as shirts on one end of the closet to give more floor space. If space permits, add a bar beneath the present bar for shirts or folded slacks. Purchase the hanging plastic bags with small compartments for jewelry, stockings or other items that tend to get cluttered. Hang clothes by style (shirts, skirts, etc.) and color. They'll be much easier to find and to coordinate into outfits. Use shelf organizers to keep things neat up top.

 Re: Closets Organizing Tips
Organizing Your Jewelry Box You keep wearing the same accessories over and over because your jewelry box is such a mess. With a little organization, you'll enjoy what you have a lot more. Take these simple step:
Get three plastic bags - one for Discard, one for Donate and one for Repair. Untangle everything and group like objects together. Discard ALL the pieces that are broken beyond repair.

Discard ALL single earrings. Put the pieces that you always wear in one spot. Put all the valuable or sentimental pieces in one spot. Be very critical of what is left. Donate what you know you'll never wear. There are lots of places to donate jewelry. Maybe one of your friends would like to have a look, or your kids. And just think - if you empty some of that space, you'll have room for something new!

Give old clothes and furniture to charity. Vacuum floors. Dust shelves. Hang cedar blocks to freshen the areas.

Great tips! I would also suggest purchasing the neat hangers for hanging multiple pairs of pants per hanger if your closet is cluttered and you cannot add another bar for more hanging space. you can also buy these for shirts I believe.

 Re: Closets Organizing Tips
Shoes used to be a huge issue. I had TONS of them.
We don't wear shoes in the house, so I keep the shoes organized in a hutch in the hallway. DH took its innards out and installed tilted wire shelves. So the shoes we wear regularly are there.
For my dress shoes, I installed a shelf about 10" above the floor and keep them there in shoeboxes. I limit myself to two of each color (dressy, casual). Then I let myself have 4 wildcard pair, 2 pairs of slippers, and my gardening clogs and muck boots. I did this about 10 years ago (got rid of about 50 pairs of shoes) and its worked well. DH has about 10 pairs of shoes (dress black, dress brown, casual black, casual brown, tennis, work boots, hikers, water shoes, deck shoes, muck boots).
The little kids have just four pairs, (dress, everyday, sandals, muck boots).
The older boys have more, but nobody has more shoes than their shoe shelf.
So far, so good.

 Re: Closets Organizing Tips
These are great tips! I especially like the first post about keeping your clothes organised. Probably one of my worst habits. Sorting them by style and colour would be a lot faster than routing through everything! After you're organised, you could have the room professionally cleaned.
