Does anyone else remember the classic survival knives that became a fad when Rambo II was released? It was a decent knife concept that was reduced to comic book status due to the film

I used to have one as well. There was a compass at the end of the handle right?

I saw that survival knife. Such knife are famous during the 70's and the 80's. I couldn't remember when I touched it last as one of my father's friends had that.

They were really great knifes. They were pretty large in size. You would probably get arrested if you would carry such a big knife around nowadays.

Those knives were junk. You can still get em today but they're not any better now than they were then. Stay away and put your money towards a real knife.

To say that the early Rambo knives were junk is an understatement. Hollow handle knives in general are a
blade welded to a hollow handle. The weak point being the connection between the two. The Buck "Buckmaster" is another example
of this trend. Some idiot in the government thought it was a great idea, and they were issued to the seals who promptly lost or
better yet traded them for something more useful. They did however make a good dive weight. A sheath pouch or a dedicated
kit pouch will allow you to carry more survival gear than a hollow handle. Save your money and buy a well made knife!
