Hi, I'm looking for a large bandage, that could be used on anything short of an arterial puncture. Would an Israeli bandage be the best thing? What about Quick Clot? I heard that the Army is replacing Quick Clot because of safety issues- anyone know what they are replacing with? Thanks!

Celox is the replacement being used for Quick Clot, it has advantages such as not having the possibility of causing burns on either the patient, or the person applying aid. In addition, Celox is packaged in a conventional bandage. You can purchase Celox on a variety of websites, such as:

That'd be nice to have in my medical pack, and relatively cheap, too.

Here's a FAQ for Quick-Clot, although it will be the same basic principals for Celox:

I took a look at the Quikclot information.

How fast does this wick moisture away, compared to the speed of the wound's clotting cascade? Is it slow enough to avoid interference at the site?

Thanks for the Celox link. I'm going to add that to my Quick Clot kit.

I've got the QuickClot sponges, and used in conjunction with standard military pressure bandages,
you can't go wrong.

I agree Quick Clot is great stuff and I'll always have it in my med kit. But if Celox really can deliver QC-like results with reduced burn risk (yet to be determined), that would be beneficial when treating injuries where surface burns are also present to reduce or eliminate additional thermal exposure to the area.
