I have to go with the Great Pyrenese. They are great with the family and very protective of your animals and boundries.

What working dog would best suit you?

What we have right now is an Australian Shepherd and if trained properly, she would make an excellent herding dog. She is also very protective of the home and family and great with the kids.

Curr. Mountain curr.
We have 8 fur coated razor blades. They do not like people other than us. and wil fight until theer is nothing left for their family.
That is their breed. Any breed when well taken care of will protect.

even little ankle biters will give it their all.

German Shepard is indeed a very good breed, these dogs have tensile strength and they are powerful indeed , so there is at most security.

I would go with German shepherd. They are cute and powerful and most of all they are very loyal. We have two German shepherds in our house and they had always been helpful.

You're right....even the little ones are good guard dogs.
I had a little Yorkie/Pom mix and he would have died for me.

I have a German/Australian Shepherd mix and I could not think of a better dog. She is not overly nice with other animals but is not aggressive either she just likes to keep them in order as well as the kids but when the time is right she likes to love and is a great protector.

A German Shepard is a great watch dog, and its really easy to tame them as well, I own two such dogs , they are playful too.

I have a Jack Russell Terrior and she is a great guard dog and also a great companion. Many people are afraid of the bigger dogs so they make good guard dogs just because of their size.
