I have a daughter who is 12, should she also learn CPR or is she too young? I am thinking about taking one of those classes and would like to have her join as well.

She is definitely not too young to learn. That would be a wonderful thing for you to teach her. You never know when something like that will come in handy.

You should start teaching your daughter at the beginning of teenage. I consider age 12 as the right age for learning important skills. Children should be taught in their young age about surviving skills.

I think that you should teach your daughter CPR now. She is not too young. She will then have this training when she starts to babysit, which will probably help her get jobs.

yes! 100% teach her. They are never to young to learn the basics of CPR. And as someone mentioned before--she is of babysitting age--it would be great for her to know when she is alone watching other children.

Thanks so much for your input. She is looking forward to taking a class with me on CPR. I thought we could do it together as a family thing. I need to brush up anyway.

Yep everyone here is right. If she is gonna babysit she needs to learn all the first aid about children that she can.

CPR and basic first aid was taught as part of the "baby sitting course" offered by my school when I was in sixth grade.. that's age 11!

I would just double check with the course teacher and see if they have any age limits for who can register for the class. It is possible that she may be able to take the class but not be able to "pass" it unless she is a certain age. I know this happened to me when I took a basic rescue and water safety course. I took it at age 10 but was not allowed to pass it until I was age 12.

I think it would be a wonderful thing to get you daughter involved in. It will probably do wonders for her confidence too, knowing herself that she is prepared to potentially save a life.

12 is not too young, infact it is probably the perfect age.

Our son is 11 and I have already taught him CPS. I think that it is a very important skill set to have.
