The Red Cross offers first aid and CPR courses for about $30.
I took them about 8 years ago. My certification is expired, but the basic knowledge is still with me.

Well actually, I went to a medical class titled "Anatomy & Physiology" which was a requirement of my subject Biology Department. We were required to euthanize a rat and dissect it while it was newly dead and still had some muscle contractions taking place. It was a very unpleasant experience.
