Just curious as to how many farmers we have here. Big farms? Hobby farms? Just animals? Just crops? A little of both?
We have neither. We have a small garden and just a few domestic pets but we're thinking about Hobby farming. Just need to do the research at this point.

I will start.
We have a 30 acre working farm. We grow contract produce and produce for The elephant sanctuary. We have wild un-herbacided, un-pesticided fruits. Maypops, blackberries, red raspberries, persimmons, rose hips Black walnuts and other wild nuts. We also have a hunter that gets wiild turkeys for us and him and and the same for deer deer.
We make natural rose hiop tea, press floral natural soaps, dipped candles, potpourri, and we process, dry and prepares Stag Horns for real pink lemonade tea and fish seasoning.

My parents owned a farm and they took care of it for almost 10 years. We are selling different kinds of fruit and vegetables in the local market. My parents earned more income in rice farming.

We grow various spices and herbal plants in our backyard. Spices are one of the necessities in cooking and it's getting expensive nowadays. Growing herbal plants is very practical nowadays.

Wow interesting farms here. I`ve always wanted to live on a farm and sell produce. I`m guessing thats a lot of work huh? I`d like a garden at least so I can grow my own veggies. I want to try using 5 gallon buckets since I can`t really do gardening. One :I have a back back and two: I don`t know how lol and 3: down here we have to buy the soil. It`s hard to grow stuff in sand.

For bucket gardening there is an entire magazine devoted to just that container gardening!
http://containergardeningmagazine.com/

I do container up here for things that I like to grow. These are a few things I learned

Terracotta pots the biggest you can move is the best. You can soak it and the water stays put really well and makes for tasty veggies.

Make a compost heap in a plastic 60 gallon tub. being with potting soil and add degradable vegetable stuff, like potato peelings, cucumber peelings etc.

Strawberries planted in a plastic tub will keep blooming and producing all winter of you place in a warm sunny location!

I grow cucumbers, radishes, strawberries, green peppers, turnips in containers that are by the fence.
I love container is so handy!
I have thsose big tubs from teh storage department at Walmart, I use the lids as drip resivoires(?) and the tubs 55 gallons or more worked great for tomatoes cucumbers gourds!

We have had this farm for the last 32 years. Hubby made friends with the dairy farm up the road so we are getting into cheese and butter making.
