Anyone here found it cheaper to put together your 72 hour kit with a group of people rather than just buying the items on your own? Buying certain items in bulk saves a lot of money, but only if you are actually going to use those items. Making it a group effort gives lets you use all of those bulk items and spreads the cost out over more people. It's not hard to get a group together. You can network through your church, or school, or even at work. Just collect the money ahead of time or you'll find yourself paying for more than you bargained for.

I think that could be a great idea. I wish that I had a groups together when I was putting my kit together. I certainly would have saved some cost. Though many of the items could only be bought one at a time. But certain items, especially first aid items could be purchased in a larger quantity for a cheaper price and then divided up.

I don't have a group of people, but that sounds like it could be a good idea. Maybe I should put something up about that kind of thing. I have lots of family living around me. We could be considered a group.

Putting togrther group kits is great not just for the buying in bulk aspect... there is also the
standarization aspect.
